Pregnancy, Postpartum & Loss Services

I have extensive training and a significant amount of experience in treating women and men who are struggling during the perinatal period, and surrounding the loss of a pregnancy or infant.  Some of the disorders that I treat include, but are not limited to anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress and obsessive-compulsive disorder. I also treat grief and loss connected to pregnancy or infant loss and infertility.

Do the following symptoms sound familiar?

These symptoms might indicate that you have a form of perinatal mood or anxiety disorder, such as postpartum depression.  Some mild mood changes during or after the birth of a child is very common; however, 15 to 20% of women experience more significant symptoms of depression and/or anxiety. If you are not feeling like yourself, an evaluation by a trained maternal mental health specialist can be helpful.

  • Feeling sad or depressed

  • Feeling more irritable or angry with those around you

  • Having difficulty bonding with your baby

  • Feeling anxious or panicky

  • Having problems with eating or sleeping

  • Having upsetting thoughts that you can’t get out of your mind

  • Feeling as though you are “out of control” or “crazy”

  • Feeling like you never should have become a mother

  • Worried that you might hurt your baby or yourself

*Women can also experience these symptoms during pregnancy                    and following pregnancy or infant loss, in addition to experiencing                  grief!

Infertility

Approximately 10-15% of couples of reproductive age are affected by infertility. The indication of infertility is often associated with depression, anxiety, grief and identity issues.
